3/18/13 - Residents of Green Oak Township can expect significant roadwork throughout the municipality this year. That's according to the township government, which is planning extensive road repairs and upgrades for the 2013 construction season. Supervisor Mark St. Charles says the projects will include a bit of improvement in most areas of the township. They will include paving projects on Silverside Drive from Silver Lake Road to Doane Road, and then along Doane Road to Rushton Road. Marshall Road will also be paved from Silver Lake to Nine Mile Road and receive a gravel upgrade from Ridgestone Drive to Eight Mile. Nine Mile Road between Marshall and Rushton will get a chip seal from the township. Spicer Road will also be limestoned. The projects are being paid for through road millage approved by voters last year. St. Charles tells WHMI these projects were selected for their relative ease and cheapness, calling them âlow-hanging fruitâ due to the lack of design and engineering work to be done. St. Charles adds that such work is underway for other projects to be undertaken in the coming years, including improvements and a non-motorized path along Fieldcrest Road. (JK)
