4/3/13- The Brighton Township Board will consider lifting the Moratorium on Special Assessment Districts (SAD) for special circumstances. It has been brought to the townshipâs attention that certain community members may need to enact an SAD in order to perform normal tasks with their home such as refinancing or selling. The issue that brought this topic into light involves roads that are lacking proper maintenance, and neighborhoods that lack enough cooperation to form a maintenance agreement on their own. Township Supervisor Tom Murphy says allowing SAD's under certain guidelines can help residents govern themselves as needed. The township has not made a decision regarding the issue, but is seeking more information on the topic to discover options for helping solve residentsâ problems in a feasible manner. Vick will be presenting information to board members in the next few weeks to seek a viable solution. (SO)
