4/26/13 - Total employment levels rose in all of Michiganâs regional labor markets in March, marking jobless rate declines locally. The individual jobless rate for Livingston County dropped three-tenths of a percentage point to 8.3% in March and now ranks 22nd in terms of unemployment among Michiganâs 83 counties - a ranking that has shown continued improvement during the first quarter of the year. The Department of Technology, Management and Budget says local area unemployment rates have trended downward from January to March, while area employment levels have risen. Over the year, the state says jobless rate declines in nearly all local areas were comparable to the national jobless rate reduction. Of the major sectors in Michigan, the state says only trade, transportation and utilities reported a decline in March. (JM)
