5/11/13 - A local scholarship program aims to ensure that children in can stay active and engaged when it comes to recreational activities no matter what the financial situation. A few years ago, The Howell Area parks and Recreation Authority designed and implemented a scholarship program to provide financial assistance to children who wish to experience and participate in recreational activities and programs. Scholarships are available to children in the City of Howell, as well as Oceola, Marion and Genoa Townships who are under 18-years-old. Officials say there are limitations on how much scholarship assistance families can utilize to ensure each deserving child will be able to participate in at least one activity per year.
