6/6/13 - Today marks the 69th anniversary of D-Day and an area lawmaker is commenting on a House Resolution that was passed recognizing it. June 6th marks the anniversary of the D-Day invasion of France during World War II as the Allies took on Adolph Hitler's Nazi forces in 1944. State Representative Joe Graves, a Republican from Argentine Township, says it’s important that the sacrifices of D-Day are never forgotten. 160,000 Allied troops landed along a 50-mile stretch of heavily-fortified French coastline to fight Nazi Germany on the beaches of Normandy, France. More than 5,000 ships and 13,000 aircraft supported the D-Day invasion but the cost was high with more than 9,000 Allied soldiers killed or wounded on June 6th alone.
