8/16/13 - Nearly two dozen firefighters fresh from some intensive training are now able to get to work and help serve local communities. The Brighton Area Fire Authority hosted the Livingston County Fire Academy over the past eight months and 22 new firefighters graduated recently. Theyâll now go to work as paid-on-call firefighters throughout seven fire departments across Oakland and Livingston Counties. Brighton Fire Chief Mike OâBrian says the Fire Academy is a true testament to the cooperation of area departments and provides each new firefighter with exposure to different organizations. He says their departments are not only providing the best training for new firefighters but also setting the trend for government cooperation across Southeast Michigan. (JM)
