8/19/13 - Two new administrators have been named in Howell Public Schools for the coming school year. David Cherry is the new principal of Challenger Elementary School. He came to the district last year as the dean of students for Parker and Highlander Way Middle Schools, later becoming interim principal of Northwest Elementary School. He had previously served as an elementary school teacher in South Lyon. He says he plans to establish a culture of trust and collaboration among the staff, as well as review the security procedures for the elementary school. In addition, Sharon Lenard will be taking over as the food service director for the entire district. She will be in charge of all aspects of food service, including staffing, purchasing, menu planning, and maximizing the profitability of the program. Lenard has 17 years as a food service director, most recently with Owosso Public Schools. (TD)
