8/30/13 - A Brighton man has passed away after being critically injured in a motorcycle accident last week in Pontiac. The Oakland County Sheriffâs Office says its Crash Reconstruction Unit was notified by the Oakland County Medical Examinerâs Office that 65-year-old Carlyle Scott Cafini died at 2:37pm Tuesday. He had been listed in critical condition at Mclaren Oakland Hospital from injuries sustained in the crash last Wednesday and underwent surgery. The accident happened at the intersection of Huron and State Streets when Cafini and another motorcyclist, a 73-year-old Brighton resident, were out riding together. The two collided at the intersection, causing Cafini to fall off. Deputies found him unconscious and suffering from head trauma at the scene while the other man was not injured. Authorities say both men were wearing helmets and alcohol did not appear to be a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation. A funeral for Cafini is planned today at noon at the Brighton Church of the Nazarene. (JM)
