9/12/13 - Local firefighters battled a small blaze in Genoa Township late yesterday afternoon. The Brighton Area Fire Authority was dispatched at approximately 4:30pm to a home on Chilson Road, south of Grand River, with automatic aid from the Howell Area Fire Authority. Brighton Fire Chief Mike OâBrian says the first engine arrived found some light smoke in the home and through investigation, a small fire in the front room of the home was found and limited to an appliance. He says crews only used extinguisher water and worked quickly to get smoke out of the home and the fire was kept pretty small. He says damage was relatively limited but the homeowner will likely wonât be able to return for a couple days. The structure fire did result in some traffic delays during the evening commute as Chilson Road at Grand River was shut down completely for about half an hour. (JM)
