11/14/13 - The Latson Road Interchange project is still on track and working towards its final stages. The Livingston County Road Commission says concrete work is mostly what is left, but that the cold weather does play a factor in the projectâs progress. While concrete still can be poured, the forms it is poured into must heat up to 40 degrees or more, then immediately be blanketed and kept warm. Managing Director of the Livingston County Road Commission Mike Craine tells WHMI traffic will soon have access to the exit ramps from Latson/Nixon Road to I-96. Along with the exit ramps and a bridge extending Latson over I-96, the project also will reconstruct several roads including Green Oak Drive, Beck and Latson/Nixon Road. A nonmotorized path is planned to run along Latson/Nixonâs west side and the I-96 rest area just past Lake Chemung will be removed. While beautification surrounding the project will continue into next year, the exact completion date will remain contingent on the weather. Photo credit to Ron Staley-Christman Group
