11/13/12 - A 2-year-old girl has died after suffering significant injuries during an early morning fire in her Howell Township mobile home. The fire happened about 1:30am in the Fairlawn Estates Mobile Home Park off of M-59, east of Michigan Avenue. Livingston County Sheriff Bob Bezotte tells WHMI the girl passed away this afternoon at the University of Michigan Medical Center in Ann Arbor. The girlâs parents suffered smoke inhalation and Bezotte says the father also sustained some burns to his arms while trying to get inside to save his daughter but was unable to do so. He says a 3-year-old child was not injured. Howell Area Fire Authority Chief Andy Pless told WHMI they do not believe the fire is suspicious but the cause remains under investigation. The home did have smoke alarms but investigators do not believe they were functioning. (JM)
