11/14/12 - A 2003 Howell High School graduate is moving on as a semi-finalist on a popular quiz show. 27-year-old Brenton Montie is the youngest teacher appearing on the âTeachers Tournamentâ of Jeopardy and the only teacher from Michigan competing against other educators from across the country. Montie is a 6th grade social studies teacher at Centennial Middle School in South Lyon, where he currently resides, and was one of the semi-finalists named after appearing on the show Monday. The former Howell High School Quiz Bowl member is a 2008 Michigan State University graduate and worked as a substitute teacher and a summer school teacher for the Howell district. The âTeachers Tournamentâ series airs at 7:30pm on Channel 4 through Friday, which is when Montie will next appear on the show. The winner of the competition will receive $100,000 and a guaranteed spot in the Jeopardy! Tournament of Champions. Each teacher will also receive a Classroom Jeopardy unit for their school.
