12/10/13 - A large truck carrying trailers of sand overturned while attempting to make it through a roundabout in Brighton Township this morning. A dual-trailer dump truck entered the roundabout at Kensington and Jacoby Roads but overturned at around 8:44am. The Livingston County Sheriffâs Department responded and reports that the wheels of the truck went over the curb, which tilted the middle dump trailer. The weight of the truck then shifted, causing it to overturn. Sheriff Bob Bezotte tells WHMI alcohol was not a factor and the dump truck, which is owned by a New Hudson-based sand and gravel company, was traveling at low speeds. The driver, identified as a 67-year-old New Hudson man, was not injured and refused medical treatment at the scene but Bezotte says he was cited for making an improper turn. (JM)
