12/19/13 - In a single meeting, the Green Oak Township Board accepted the resignation of its police chief and appointed his successor last night. Earlier this month, Chief Bob Brookins submitted his retirement papers to the township after more than 20 years with the department. His wife, who is the township planning and zoning administrator, also informed the township that she would be retiring. The couple will leave the municipality's employment effective February 15th. The township board accepted their retirement notices last night, and at the same meeting appointed Deputy Chief Jason Pless as the next police chief. Clerk Mike Sedlak says the township has been grooming Pless for the job since 2006, and that he now has earned respect in the department, around the county, and across the state. Sedlak says Brookins has provided the township with outstanding service as its chief, and he expects Pless to build upon that legacy. (TD)
