1/2/14 - A peregrine falcon that was found injured in Detroit last year has found a new, permanent home at a local nature center. The bird named Allegro had been receiving care at the Howell Conference and Nature Center since April. Plans initially called for him to be released, but the injury was deemed too severe. Director Dana DeBenham says the bird hurt a foot that threatened his survival. It is believed the falcon crashed into a window near its nesting place on a high-rise. The center gained U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service approval to make him a permanent resident at it's facility in Marion Township. Allegro has bonded with the center's other peregrine falcon, Rocky, and is expected to become part of the center's education programs. (JM)
