1/13/14 - With increasing threats of cyber-bullying, Internet predators, and identity theft, a program next week aims to teach local middle school students how to stay safe while online. Students at Highlander Way Middle School in Howell will take part in The Michigan Cyber Safety Initiative next Tuesday, January 21st, which is a customized Internet safety presentation. The middle school theme is âStanding Up for Student Safetyâ and students in 6th, 7th and 8th grade at Highlander Way will attend the program. Theyâll learn about various topics related to cyber safety such as the dangers of posting personal information online, the potentially devastating consequences of cyber bullying and how online activity can impact a studentâs future. The program is offered through the Michigan Attorney Generalâs Office and was launched in 2007. Program details can be found through the link below. (JM)
