2/27/14 - A second Democrat has thrown their hat into the ring to take on incumbent Mike Rogers for the 8th District congressional seat. Central Michigan University professor Susan Grettenberger announced Wednesday she will run for the Democratic nomination to challenge Rogers, a seven-term Republican from Howell who chairs the House Intelligence Committee. Grettenberger said Rogers was âmore concerned with spying on his own constituents than representing them,â referring to his defense of the National Security Agency spying programs that have come to light over the past year. Grettenberger, who is CMUâs director of social work, said she would run on a platform of economic populism that includes raising the minimum wage. She joins retired state demographer Ken Darga in seeking the Democratic nomination. (JK)
