3/22/14 - After a career spanning nearly 40 years and dedicated service to the community, a man described as a true champion of the fire service and life safety has retired. Captain/Inspector Jim Corcoran recently retired from the Brighton Area Fire Authority. He served the Brighton Area for the past seven years but has been in the fire service for nearly 40 years. The decorated Air Force veteran was also named the 2012 Michigan Fire Inspector of the Year. Corcoran is said to have been instrumental in the development of fire inspectors across the state while also working to reduce the impact of fire by supporting educational efforts on residential sprinklers.
