11/24/12 - The 6th annual Holiday in the Park event is approaching next week. The festivities will kick off on Friday, November 30th at 6pm on the shores of Thompson Lake when the park will be lit up and Santa Claus will make an appearance for photos with the public. Wishes to Santa will also be released by sky lantern and horsedrawn carriage rides will be available. Hot chocolate and cookies will also be served. Right now, the Howell Parks and Recreation Authority is looking for companies and organizations to decorate trees placed around the park. Director Debbie Mikula tells WHMI that the authority is looking for organizations to sponsor and decorate trees for $40 apiece. Organizations can decorate the trees using weather-resistant decorations for the entire month of December. The Authority will provide electricity.
