3/31/14 - The pedestrian killed early Sunday after he was hit by a car in Green Oak Township has been identified. Green Oak Township Police say that 27-year-old Kevin Douglas Simon was pronounced dead at the scene of the incident which happened shortly after midnight on Sunday at the intersection of Rickett Road and Meadow Farm Drive. Chief Jason Pless says after arriving on the scene, officers learned a 33-year-old South Lyon woman had called Livingston County Central Dispatch to report she had hit a man and had then driven to her home. Their investigation indicates that the woman, who is not being identified, was driving an SUV south on Rickett Road when she struck Simon as she neared Meadow Farm Drive. Pless says Simon was walking to his home in Brighton in the southbound lane in an area with no street lights while wearing dark clothing. While there is no preliminary indication that either the driver or Simon were impaired, the investigation remains open pending autopsy results, which could take 4-6 weeks. Once their report is complete, it will be reviewed by the Livingston County Prosecutor for possible charges. (JK)
