7/4/14 - The annual 4th of July parade ran through downtown Brighton on Friday. Several thousand residents of Brighton and nearby communities were in attendance for this year's parade themed America the Beautiful. Jason Spencer of Brighton tells WHMI the Fourth of July means independence to him. The parade celebrated the American spirit and featured floats, classic cars, motorcycle community groups, politicians and young aspiring farmers. Spencer said his son loves tractors, and a neighbor invited the young man to ride on his tractor in the parade. Parades were held in several communities including Whitmore Lake, Fowlerville and Gregory. Independence Day celebrations will continue throughout Livingston County this weekend.
