8/11/14 - The Livingston County Sheriffâs Department had some helping hands with a three-vehicle accident Saturday afternoon. It happened on Highland Road near Hartland Woods Drive at around 4:00 Saturday. Sheriff Bob Bezotte tells WHMI six members of the Michigan National Guard 1462nd Transportation Company based in Howell were on their way home from training and stopped to help out. He says they were directing and re-directing traffic around the accident scene and their help was very much appreciated. Livingston County EMS and members of the Hartland Deerfield Fire Authority also assisted and Undersheriff Mike Murphy arrived first on scene. Bezotte says a 27-year-old Howell woman in a Nissan Altima was westbound on Highland Road when she rear-ended a Mercury Mystique, driven by a 55-year-old Hartland woman. Bezotte says the Mystique then hit a Ford Fusion traveling eastbound that was driven by a 48-year-old Howell woman. Bezotte says the drivers of the Mystique and Fusion were taken by ambulance to the University of Michigan hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Alcohol and speed were not believed to be factors. (JM)
