9/7/14 - A Brighton man has pleaded guilty to charges of arson in Livingston County Circuit Court. 19-year-old Travis Cottrill pleaded guilty as charged to single charge of 4th degree arson on Friday. As part of his plea agreement, prosecutors have agreed to have Cottrill sentenced under the Holmes Youthful Trainee Act. That will allow his record to be wiped clean upon successful completion of his sentence, which will be handed down by Judge Michael Hatty on October 16th. Cottrill is alleged to have set his girlfriendâs car on fire June 14th, after she broke up with him. The vehicle was fully engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived but also caused some damage to another vehicle in the driveway, which belonged to the victimâs parents. (TD)
