12/20/12 - More than a thousand bright orange stickers will be reminding residents that providing minors with alcohol is illegal, thanks to a group of Fowlerville teens and the Livingston County Community Alliance. In conjunction with Livingston County Catholic Charities, Project Sticker Shock involves placing the stickers on beer and wine coolers stocked by participating retailers around the county. The stickers inform purchasers that providing the alcohol to minors is illegal and carries a possible fine of $2,500 and up to 90 days in jail. Substance Abuse Prevention Coordinator Kaitlin Fink tells WHMI that the project occurs throughout the year, but it is especially relevant in December when adults might be tempted to provide alcohol to minors to celebrate a holiday or New Yearâs Eve. Five members of the Fowlerville High School Students Leading Students organization distributed the stickers to retailers in Hartland, Howell, Brighton, and Hamburg. (TD)
