12/29/12 - The first Miss Mid-Michigan competition will take place at the Howell High School Auditorium next month, giving young women the chance to qualify for higher titles. The competition will feature 16 contestants from around the mid-Michigan area. They will compete in talent, sportswear, interview, evening gown, and question-and-answer phases of the contest. They will also be asked to speak on their chosen platform, which will be a social or community issue they wish to advocate. The winner of the competition will be awarded a $500 scholarship and eligibility to compete for the title of Miss Michigan in June. She will also take time during her year of service to speak to officials, community leaders, and community groups about her chosen platform. The Miss Mid-Michigan Scholarship Organization is a not-for-profit affiliate of the Miss America Organization. (TD)
