2/15/13 - The City of Linden has listed a sidewalk connecting two elementary schools with nearby residential areas as one of its priorities for the coming year. The project was requested by a petition from residents in the fall and was presented to the Linden City Council by the cityâs Parks and Recreation Committee on Monday. The project would serve Linden and Hyatt Elementary Schools. Officials say the plan is still preliminary and research needs to be done, but right now the cost is estimated at about $150,000. Grant funding from the stateâs Safe Routes To School program could potentially reduce that cost to $30,000. The committee also submitted plans for installing barrier-free restrooms at Walmar Park as well as numerous benches around the city as other high-priority projects for the next couple of years. (TD)
