10/23/12 - The trial of a Brighton Township man charged with firing a gun at two teens last year gets underway today. A jury panel was seated yesterday in the case against 49-year-old Alan Leroy Parks, who is charged with two counts of felonious assault. The trial begins with opening arguments this morning in Livingston County Circuit Court Judge Michael Hattyâs courtroom. Police allege Parks fired three shots at the vehicle two Brighton Township teens were in while they were turning around on Fleetwood Court near Pleasant Valley Road on November 8th, 2011. The then-19 and 16-year-olds claimed a motorist came out of a driveway as if trying to stop them and then proceeded to fire a gun three times at their truck before forcing them off the road into a ditch. The teens allege that they were mistaken for kids who had been doing doughnuts in the area earlier. (JM)
