3/15/13 - She had a chance to stay out of jail, but a Northfield Township woman caught violating her bond for felonious assault against a police officer found out sheâll spend several months behind bars for her mistake. 26-year-old Rebecca Lee Ball originally entered into a plea deal that would have kept her out of jail for the incident last summer, but voided that deal when she was caught driving to a court hearing in violation of her bond. As a result, Ball was ordered to serve 5 months in the Livingston County Jail when she was sentenced Thursday, with credit for 87 days already served. She must also serve two years of probation and make restitution of $3,000. Green Oak Police say officers responded to a domestic disturbance during the early morning hours of July 4th at a residence in the area of Eastshore Drive and McNally Road. They arrived to discover roughly 25 young adults, many of whom had been drinking. After being told that the woman involved in the dispute was attempting to leave, a sedan driven by Ball drove towards two officers, narrowly missing the first and then hitting the second in his upper right thigh. Neither officer required medical attention but Police say Ball fled the scene and abandoned her car in an apartment complex. She was apprehended several hours later after a State Police K-9 tracked her in a wooded area off of 7 Mile Road in Northfield Township. (JK)
