3/17/13 - A Highland Township man has been arraigned on a variety of charges for allegedly breaking into homes and vehicles in Oakland and Livingston Counties. 18-year-old Ross Dimercurio (pictured) is charged locally with 2nd degree home invasion and two counts each of breaking and entering and larceny from a motor vehicle for January incidents. Heâs set to appear in court Wednesday and police say he targeted unlocked vehicles in residential areas in Brighton and Hartland Townships during the late night and early morning hours. Dimercurio is also charged in Oakland County, along with co-defendant 18-year-old Devin Newell. The two remain jailed in connection with several vehicle larcenies in Highland Township March 5th. Deputies with the Oakland County Sheriff Departmentâs Highland Township substation received a report of a stolen handgun from one of the vehicles that day. Subsequent investigation and witness interviews led to Dimercurio and Newell, who were busted at a local pawn store and found to be in possession of the majority of stolen property as well as large amount of stolen prescription pills. Deputies recovered additional property after interviews with the pair, including the handgun. Dimercurio has since been arraigned on eleven counts in 52-1 Court in Novi, including a felony firearm count while Newell was arraigned on nine counts. (JM)
