11/18/13 - Livingston County residents have an opportunity to ask the experts about their personal or hand-me-down treasures at a fundraiser for an exterior restoration project on a historic gem. The Springâs Red Bird Questers #744 its hosting an antique appraisal event next weekend thatâs likened to the Antiques Roadshow. All of the funds raised will toward a project to refinish and restore the brick on the exterior of the Howell Opera House. Chapter member and event co-chair Farial Dickow says the non-profit aims to educate, research, and teach the preservation of memorials, historical buildings and landmarks. Any item over 50 years old is considered an antique and she tells WHMI the appraisals will be conducted by the DuMouchelle Gallery, a prestigious national auctioneer and appraisal company based in Detroit. Dickow says appraisers will have equipment and lighting staged so they can take a good look at the antiques being brought in. Tickets are $15 for one item and $20 for two items.
