12/3/13 - Funeral services are planned Wednesday for former Lyon Township Fire Chief Les Cash, described by those who knew him best as a quiet, loyal man who understood the importance of family, community and service. After battling a long illness, Cash passed away on Friday at the age of 70. The lifelong resident of New Hudson served the community for more than 35 years, up until his retirement as Chief of the Lyon Township Fire Department in 2008. His first priority in life was said to be his family, and Cash is survived by his wife of 50 years, three children, six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, with another expected in January. Visitation is taking place from 3 to 9pm today at Phillips Funeral Home on Lake Street in South Lyon, where a funeral service will be held at 11am tomorrow. The Lyon Township Municipal Center will be closed as a result from 10:30am until 1pm to allow staff and officials to attend the funeral. Cash will then be laid to rest at the New Hudson Cemetery.
