12/14/13 - The Livingston County Department of Public Health is providing the public with some tips when purchasing new toys this holiday season. December is Safe Toy Month and it is important to buy toys that are suitable for children and meet the recommended safety standards set by Health Department. Public Health officials are reminding parents during this holiday season to only buy toys that are suitable for a childâs age. The Health Department also says when purchasing toys always read the warning on the box and to avoid purchasing toys with sharp edges, and to buy toys that are built to last and will not shatter into dangerous shards. Also they ask parents to keep an eye on their children when playing with new toys and to always show them the proper way to use them before letting them play with the toy. (MV)
