1/2/14 - As local plow companies and road crews continue salting and work to clear snow from messy roadways, motorists are reminded to slow down and give them extra room. Livingston Road Commission Managing Director Mike Craine says crews work lots of hours on big equipment and trucks and they need room to groom during times of snow and ice. Craine notes a continuing problem with different contractors and plow companies is that they push snow out onto roads, which is not only illegal but a major safety hazard. Craine tells WHMI thereâs always a big turnover in the industry but they actively stop private snow plowers to remind them of the law, adding they are not at all reluctant to take down names and numbers and turn them over to the Sheriffâs Department. Widespread snow persisted across Livingston County throughout the morning, with numerous reports of cars in ditches, spin-outs and overall travel delays. (JM)
