1/3/14 - Huron Meadows Metropark will be hosting cross country ski races this month as part of the Michigan Cup Race Series. The 5th annual Frosty Freestyle event on January 11th will offer a 5k race for juniors and beginners and a 15k for more advanced skiers, with both races featuring skate and classic divisions. The Krazy Klassic 12k race the following day will offer classic style skiing only around a 4k loop. The races will be held at the Huron Meadows Metropark, making them the only races in the Michigan Cup Race Series to be held south of Roscommon. All proceeds will go to the Huron-Clinton Metroparks for cross-country skiing related expenses. Last yearâs races raised nearly $7,000 for the park. The metropark staff works diligently for months to ensure that conditions on the trail are perfect for the skiers, and the races may be rescheduled if there is insufficient snow.
