1/4/14 - Crews from multiple departments were unable to prevent a fire from causing nearly half a million dollars' worth of damage to a home in Argentine Township on New Year's Eve. The Argentine Township Fire Departmet was called to the site at about 2:14pm when the homeowners returned from running errands to find smoke and flames coming from the building. The Tri County Times reports that fire crews from eight different departments responded to the fire on the isolated rural home, partly due to the limited staffing on New Year's Eve. When the site was cleared more than five hours after the initial call, the 7,500 square foot home and all of its contents had been declared a complete loss. There were no injuries, and the homeowner says he plans to rebuild on the site. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation. (TD)
