1/7/13 - Brighton City Hall is closed today following a water main break that is also causing some pressure issues in a portion of downtown Brighton. City Manager Dana Foster says the break was discovered late last night in the cityâs municipal complex next to the District Court building near the intersection of North First Street and Cedar Street. Brighton DPS crews were able to mitigate the problem by adjusting the water pressure at various nearby water line valves. While all city water customers have water service, residents and businesses near the North First Street, Cedar Street, East Walnut Street and Mill Pond Lane may experience lower than normal water pressures until the repair is completed. Foster says they anticipate being able to get the repair process, which will involve some underground excavation work, completed by 8:00 tonight. Due to the need to turn off water service at various extended times during today's repair process, Brighton City Hall will be closed today as is the Brighton District Court. In addition, the driveway leading from North First Street into the Municipal Complex parking lot is closed. However those parking lots can still be accessed via Mill Pond Lane. (JK)
