1/7/14 - It appears at least one local municipality broke some records following the most recent snow storm. Thatâs according to The National Weather Service White Lake Township Office, which says itâs been an active three weeks but all within the spectrum of a Michigan winter. Meteorologist Rich Pollman tells WHMI there are some Howell records dating back to 1940 and it looks like Howell had its fourth biggest snowfall based on this particular event, although some areas will measure a little higher and others a little lower. So just how did local areas measure up with snow accumulations? Howell had almost 16 inches of snow, Brighton had about 13.5 inches but Pollman says they did receive spotter reports of more than 17 inches of snow in Fowlerville. He says temperatures are a bit more difficult and the records donât go back that far, but Pollman says certainly if you look at Lower Michigan, a lot of records were broken for Tuesday morningâs low temperature, and that low temperature probably would have been broken in Howell had they had a long enough period of record.
