1/23/14 - Andrew G. Schmidt Middle School in Fenton will open in secure mode tomorrow after a threat was found written in the school. Administrators issued a letter to parents today indicating a threat was found written in the 7th grade restroom following lunch. According to the letter, school officials followed district protocol by investigating the incident, contacting the Fenton Police Department, and remaining in secure mode for the rest of the day. Police are helping investigate the incident, even though they feel it is a low-level threat. However, the district is taking the threat seriously and will keep the school in secure mode throughout the day on Friday. This means all interior doors will be locked and students will not be allowed to leave classrooms except in an emergency. A similar incident occurred at the school less than two weeks ago, when a possible threat was found in the 8th grade restroom. (TD)
