1/24/14 - The family of a Pinckney-area teen badly burned in a bonfire accident last year is grieving her sudden death yesterday. 19-year-old Sarah Grundy is being remembered by her family and friends as a brave young woman who battled through intensive medical treatments following the accident in March, when she suffered burns over more than 80% of her body. The 2012 Pinckney Community High School graduate spent more than 7 months at the University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor where she received dozens of skin surgeries. Various fundraisers in the community helped to raise more than $15,000 to help offset her medical costs. Grundy, who was released in November, was found dead Thursday morning. The Free Press reports her mother, Sandy Lavey-Grundy, said her daughterâs death could be related to an infection she contracted last weekend, for which she was prescribed antibiotics. The cause of death is pending an autopsy by the Livingston County Medical Examinerâs Office. Funeral arrangements are pending. (JK)
