1/30/14 - The Milford Village manager position is vacant no more. The Milford Village Council unanimously voted to offer the manager position to Christian Wuerth, who serves as the assistant to the City Manager of Birmingham. Heâs been with Birmingham for nine years and his wife is a teacher at Muir Middle School in Milford. The position became vacant with the abrupt resignation of former manager Brent Morgan last August. After numerous interviews and meetings, the list of candidates was narrowed down to two finalists; Wuerth and Jonathan Greene, the economic development director for the City of Jackson. There was discussion among the members regarding both finalists and Clerk Debby Frazer who has been serving as interim manager tells WHMI that Council was split on who they favored but felt both were qualified for the position. However, she says members felt it was important to agree on a selection to demonstrate their complete support to the new manager. Frazer says the decision was unanimous to offer the position to Wuerth, and he was notified immediately following the meeting and accepted. She says the offer is contingent on successful contract negotiations, a background investigation, and drug and psychological testing. While no formal start date has been identified, Frazer says hopefully heâll be on board by the end of February. (JM)
