1/30/14 - After a very successful year of road projects, Green Oak Township is shifting gears and working on designing the slate of 2014 projects. The repaving of Fieldcrest Road and construction of a non-motorized path along that five mile stretch are planned this year, along with the paving of Nine Mile Road from Marshall Road around to US-23 or some other connection around East Shore Drive. The big one though is the paving of Ruston Road from Doane to Silver Lake Road according to Supervisor Mark St. Charles. He says theyâre working with the Livingston County Road Commission and the goal is to try and start the paving and roadwork after school lets out and preferably finish by September to lessen the impact on motorists. With the Rushton Road project, St. Charles says theyâre making good progress but have hit some snags with road right of way issues, so once snow is off the ground, theyâll do more survey work. He says theyâre really trying to get that project done this year but it must be ready to bid by April and no later than May to hit the 2014 construction season.
All of the work is funded through a 15-year road millage approved by voters that generates roughly $1 (m) million annually. Detailed project information can be found through the link below. (JM)
