1/31/14 - There will be no further jail time for an Oceola Township man involved in a seven-hour police standoff this past summer. 43-year-old Michael Porr was ordered to serve six days in the Livingston County Jail and given credit for six days already served at his sentencing Thursday. Porr had previously pleaded guilty to misdemeanor counts of aggravated domestic violence and attempted interfering with a telephone call. The plea was in exchange for the original charges of assault by strangulation, interfering with a crime report, and cruelty to an animal being dismissed. Porr was also ordered to serve two years of probation. Authorities say the incident took place July 29th when he choked his 41-year-old girlfriend during an argument in the home they shared on Green Road. He then fired a shot from a gun as she fled the home into nearby woods. She was able to call 911 and told dispatchers Porr threatened to retaliate against responding officers, which prompted the countyâs tactical team to surround the house. After several hours of attempting to communicate with Porr, it was determined he was no longer inside the home. He was arrested after being located in the nearby woods. (JK)
