2/2/14- Livingston County will be preparing itself for another 6 weeks of winter in accordance with the prediction of Howell’s infamous Woody the Woodchuck. Woody’s home, the Howell Nature Center, hosts the yearly Groundhog’s Day event with a costume contest, pancake breakfast, live band and the grand reveal of Woody. Dick Grant, the Executive Director of the Howell Nature Center, tells WHMI this year was Woody’s 16th prediction. Woody was rescued from a farm after her mother was shot, and then brought to the Howell Nature Center to be raised in captivity. Woody has been correct 11 out of 15 times in her predictions and is said to be very sweet by nature. She is a multi-talented woodchuck, making predictions in the Superbowl as well. She has been correct 6 out of 8 times for the game and has predicted the Denver Broncos to take home a win today. (DK)
