2/21/14 - Some federal money will be distributed to Livingston County nonprofits thanks to the guidance of the Federal Emergency Management Agency. A total of $11,708 was allocated for Livingston County by a national board chaired by FEMA. Local municipalities were granted different amounts of funding depending on the average number of unemployed individuals. The money is to be used to supplement emergency food and shelter programs offered by nonprofits in the county. It has yet to be determined which organizations will be receiving portions of this funding. To be considered, a nonprofit must have an accounting system, practice nondiscrimination, and have a proven ability to deliver emergency food and shelter programs. (TD)
