3/26/14 - A Mecosta County woman found passed out behind the wheel of a car in Oceola Township has reached a plea deal with local prosecutors. 31-year-old Amy Lynn Wood was charged earlier this month with a 3rd offense of operating while intoxicated as well as driving with a suspended license related to an incident on March 11th. Thatâs when Livingston County Sheriffâs deputies found her unconscious inside a Jaguar parked on Sonata Drive. A male passenger, 50-year-old Richard Edward Stanley, was also passed out. When Wood would not wake up, deputies managed to get Stanley conscious, who told them Wood was an escort and the car belonged to his mother. Wood eventually woke up and used an alias. She was also found in possession of a syringe and a glass pipe. She was lodged at the Livingston County Jail on a $500,000 bond. During an exam on Tuesday, she pleaded no contest to the charges in exchange for prosecutors recommending a sentence of between 2 and 20 years in prison. If the court does not accept the sentence agreement Wood can withdraw her plea, but the matter of her case will continue at the circuit court level in Judge Michael Hattyâs courtroom. That sentencing will take place on May 8th. Stanley was charged with misdemeanor disorderly conduct and is due back in district court Monday for a pre-trial hearing. (JK)
