5/5/14 - A meeting this week will provide area commuters, residents, business owners and others with details on a major freeway interchange project slated to start later this year in Livingston County. The Greater Brighton Area Chamber of Commerce will host the informational session on all aspects US-23/I-96 interchange realignment set to take place between the fall of 2014 and 2015. The project is expected to include the redesign and improvements on bridges through the interchange, a new rerouted ramp from US-23 northbound to I-96 westbound and work on the Spencer Road bridge. Officials expect that the work will affect everyone who heads in, out or through the City of Brighton, Brighton Township or Green Oak Township as well as anyone with children in Brighton Area Schools. The meeting, which will be held Wednesday from 7:30 to 9am at the American Spirit Centre in Brighton will provide details on the project scope, detours, timelines, signage and noise concerns that officials say local businesses and residents need to be aware of.
