5/29/14 - A Fenton man is facing serious felony charges after an ongoing dispute between neighbors escalated to one shooting the other. 46-year-old Gregory Thomas Johnson of Fenton has been charged with three felonies related to the shooting of his neighbor Monday afternoon. He was arraigned on one count of assault with intent to murder, which carries a possible life sentence if convicted. Johnson is also charged with the five-year felony of carrying a weapon with unlawful intent and a separate felony firearm count, which the Genesee County Prosecutorâs Office says carries a mandatory two-years in prison that would be served consecutively to any sentence for underlying charges. Although the investigation is ongoing, Fenton Police say ongoing disagreement between the two neighbors culminated with Johnson shooting the 43-year-old victim in the buttocks area with a .38 semi-automatic pistol. Heâs recovering and Johnson is scheduled to appear for a pre-trial hearing next Friday in 67th District Court. (JM)
