5/30/14 - A Howell Township woman has been arraigned on animal cruelty charges after authorities removed more than 90 dogs and puppies from her property. 76-year-old Margaret Elaine Komorny of Howell Township was arraigned on a charge of failing to provide adequate care to ten or more animals on Thursday in 53rd District Court in Howell. In April, investigators found large-breed dogs and puppies living in what Animal Control and the Humane Society say were substandard conditions at the Raisin Tree Farm. Komorny has denied those allegations and says the dogs weren't in overcrowded cages and got care daily. Komorny was released on a $5,000 personal bond and will appear in court again for an exam conference June 3rd. While the case is pending, she may not possess any new animals or advertise but she will be allowed to keep horses that are already on her farm. Her property will also be subject to random inspections by the Livingston County Sheriffâs Department or Animal Control. (JM)
