7/3/14 - Authorities have identified a motorcyclist who had to be airlifted to a hospital following a Wednesday afternoon crash. State Police from the Brighton Post say that 61-year-old Ronald Chapiewski of South Lyon was riding his motorcycle westbound on Grand River just after 12:30pm Wednesday when he left the roadway near Pleasant Valley Road, near the Green Oak and Brighton Township border. An investigation indicates he lost control on the gravel shoulder and collided with a guardrail. Chapiewski, who was taken by Survival Flight to the University of Michigan Medical Center in Ann Arbor, was last listed in critical condition. He was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash and neither speed nor alcohol appears to be a factor.
