7/17/14 - A Howell Township woman charged after authorities removed more than 90 dogs and puppies from her property has been sentenced. 76-year-old Margaret Elaine Komorny of Howell Township was sentenced to five years of probation this morning on a felony charge of cruelty to animals after earlier pleading guilty. The judge ordered that she also not own any animals. The charge arose from circumstances this year at Komorny's Raisin Tree Farm on Suntar Valley Drive. She also has forfeited ownership rights to puppies and adult dogs that were seized in May. Komorny had earlier denied allegations by authorities that the animals were living in unsanitary conditions. Authorities seized 91 dogs and puppies, and two died. Her lawyer says she also has sick horses that she's planning to euthanize. (JK)
